User Experience / User Interaction

LOADING
User Experience and User Interaction is an area of design I am passionate about. I feel that the bridge between the user and the designer is the shortest. My experience as an industrial designer helps me visualize designs in context to see issues other designers may miss. As someone who enjoys learning new software and tools, I am steeped in the challenges faced by both the software engineers and the users. I love testing software interfaces; you could say it’s a hobby of mine.

The paramount role of an industrial designer is to focus on usability, and my process for user interface and interaction is no different. The first step is to identify the goal of the project, to consider the design challenge; “what problem needs to be solved?” When thinking about the goals of the project, it is important to think about the target user and how to make the interaction logical and intuitive. Once the project parameters are defined, ideations are committed to paper. While working with a team, this ideation phase allows for rapid idea generation to quickly develop a solution. During the entire design process, it is important to constantly test the design with others to ensure that the solution is the right approach. Finally, after the solution is agreed upon it is just a matter of breaking the large endeavor down into smaller tasks.
